Meet Our Founding Attorney: Paul J. Garrity

Paul J. Garrity graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He later went on to obtain a law degree at Boston University. He was recognized as a New Hampshire attorney in 1986 and that same year he became a member of the United States District bar in New Hampshire.

In 1990, he passed the Massachusetts Bar Exam and was also honored as a member of the United States District bar in Massachusetts. While he was earning these achievements, Garrity also earned a membership in the United States First Circuit Court of Appeals. In 2003, he was also accepted Pro Hac Vice in the United States District Court for St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.


Professional History

Since becoming an attorney, Garrity has exclusively focused his efforts and work in criminal defense. Over the last 25 years, he has tried approximately 200 jury trials in the state and federal courts of both New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Throughout his career, he has also tried hundreds of bench trials and dealt with a number of appeals in the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and in the New Hampshire Supreme Court.

His impressive work in a murder case is now the basis for a true crime book, Because You Loved Me by William Phelps. Past trials that he has been involved with include charges, such as:
